Lucinda Witte NPC Figure
How did you get interested in
Looking back I can say I have always been involved in some sort of exercise. I started jogging back in high school my junior year, I was also on the drill team, gymnastics and cheerleading squad. After the birth of each of my 5 children I picked up the exercise of jogging to help lose the weight I had gained during the pregnancy. It wasnt actually until May 1992, that I started to get serious about being fit and increased my daily jogging exercise from 30 minutes to 60 minutes. Fourteen years later in February 2004, I decided I wanted to add some upper body strength so I started a weight resistance program, which has evolved into a six day a week 1.5 hour full body workout. I love the strength gains and beautiful muscle definition I have been able to achieve--something jogging alone could not do.
What was your first show like, any interesting experiences?
My first show was exciting and quite the learning experience. I did qualify for Nationals. I was in the top five. I had tough competition. There wasnt a Masters Division in this show, so going into to it I initially felt a little insecure. The night show was less stressful because I knew all the judging had already taken place. I could tell by peoples reactions in the parking lot that I had done good. I was complimented quite a bit walking to and from my car. This encouragement helped lift the doubts.
What do you like and dislike about competing?
I like the showmanship of going on stage. I like the lights, audience and cameras. I am a performer at heart. I dont like the behind stage waiting and anticipating before I go on. I try to pass the time away by playing my walkmans and listening to music. I get very anxious.
What are your future goals in this industry?
To continue to gain more muscle size and strength in hopes of one day doing womens natural bodybuilding in the Masters division. But until that time to continue to do figure competitions perhaps earning Pro status. Id love to also do endorsements and print work for fitness apparel, supplements and exercise inspiration.
What do you see yourself doing in 10 years?
I see myself a Pro with many sponsors and publicity knocking at my door. This opportunity would afford me to get the word out and encourage others in achieving both there physical and spiritual fitness. I feel Ive been given a gift and I will use it to help others. It feel so right!
Please tell us something special about you that most people
I am a Christian and have a strong faith in GOD. I have a wonderful voice and love to sing whether it be at church, home, car or at the gym. And I currently hold the beauty pageant title of Mrs. Greater Sacramento in my community where I get to give back a little and help out with local charities.
Any additional notes? People you would like to thank?
Id like to thank my higher power God for giving me this body and strength. Id also like to thank all the wonderful trainers, gym members, Internet friends that have encouraged me, inspired me and believed in me. Id also like to thank my husband, children, mom and dad for all there support.
